“An International Connection”

Friday, March 9th 7:30 p.m.International Jazz Artist J. Kyle Gregory was born and educated in the USA but has been living and playing in Europe since 1998.  He plays regularly in various formations, but will be opening with his Quartet for Lafayette’s Bob Athayde, and his Stanley Jazz Messengers, a group of students from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades of Lafayette’s Stanley Middle School.

“Jazz for the Ages”

Saturday, March 10th 7:30 p.m. – Featuring many of the San Francisco Bay Area’s finest musicians, Realistic Orchestra is based on a century old classic ensemble known as the “Big Band”.  These elements, combined with modern electronic influenced grooves, epic arrangements and cutting-edge jazz improvisation, create the distinct and unmistakable sound of the Realistic Orchestra.   The Award Winning Acalanes Jazz Ensemble led by Norm Dea will be opening the evening.


“Honor that Jazz”

Sunday, March 11th 3:00 p.m.- The ninth annual Contra Costa County Middle School Honor Jazz Band with Guest Director ,John Bremis, followed by the tenth annual Contra Costa County High School Honor Jazz Band with Guest Director Mary Fettig, will share the stage comprised of the bay area’s best student jazz musicians from fourteen local High schools and fourteen Middle schools.

 

 

“Jazz for All Ages”

Thursday, March 8th 7:30 p.m. – For Rossmoor residents and their guests, the sounds of The Big Band of Rossmoor will sing and swing opening night incorporating a multi-generational approach with the opening student band, The Stiles White Quintet.   Celebrating the Big Band Era of Jazz, the sweet sounds of the 30’s and 40’s will ring true in the halls of the Del Valle Clubhouse in Rossmoor.

 

Tickets for the twelth Annual Lafayette Jazz Festival are on sale now at the Lafayette Chamber.  Shows are a great value at $10 for Adults and $5 for Students.  Matinee performance of the Honor Jazz Bands will be $5 General Admission.
